Grout Bully

At the Greensboro Southern Ideal Home Show this weekend, we had several people ask us if what we do is “just like that Grout Bully” they’ve seen infomercials for.  We’ve investigated this product and found it to be not only extremely costly, but very difficult to apply and get the desired results.

As with many products sold through infomercials, “shipping and handling” ends up costing more than the product itself, with the $10 product ending up costing over $30.  In addition, the small quantity in each bottle of Grout Bully means that in order to complete an entire shower or floor the cost would be astronomical.

As grout is a porous substance, the surface of grout needs to be appropriately prepared prior to sealing.  Grout is a highly porous substance, and absorbs dirt and stains like a sponge.  A cleaning process that will remove materials from the pores is required to allow sealant to penetrate into the grout.  This is a time-consuming and laborious process that is best carried out by a knowledgeable professional.

Finally, Grout Bully is a poor-quality sealant.  While we don’t know exactly what is in this product, it is obvious that it is not formulated to penetrate into the grout and form a long-lasting shield against dirt and moisture.  A high-quality sealer like Grout Works’ proprietary grout sealant requires a skilled technician to ensure correct application, including removal of excess sealant that dries onto tiles during the sealing process.  Specialized products are required for this process, and unless carried out by a skilled professional, can result in a “haze” on tile that once dried, becomes extremely difficult to remove.

Don’t waste your time and money with this product.  Contact Carolina Grout Works today and let a professional provide you with the highest quality service and results that will last for years.
